Both Physical & Mental

Mind and body connection

True success in overcoming your incontinence issues will happen after you master both the physical and mental side of the problem. Above, we have provided a clear path for bettering your physical performance. The mental side of the equation comes from “connecting” your mind to your body.

With urinary incontinence and with normal fluid intake, this means being 100% aware of your bladder’s % of fullness. Try to urinate every 1-2 hours even though your body is telling your mind to urinate every 10-15 minutes or your brain isn’t telling you to urinate at all. If you go to the bathroom frequently, you are training your brain to urinate all the time. You need to train your brain to hold back the flow of small volumes of urine and to keep it in your bladder. Especially following surgery, the mind / body connection is lost and your PFM are very weak and lazy. If your mind can hold back and control your bladder from leaking and if you can hold back and urinate in roughly 1-2 hour intervals, your mind and body will sync again, helping you reduce and control leakage issues. Also, stop and start the flow of urine every time you go to the bathroom. Performing Kegels on the toilet will help reinforce the restraint technique in your brain.
